Thing to remember:
- When getting a massage, dress in comfortable, loose-fitting attire that is simple to take off and put back on.
- When you have an appointment, dress comfortably. You can receive a massage while wearing your underwear.
- Beforehand, take a shower, and make sure to drink lots of water. Eat a snack but try to stay away from large meals.
- Don't be hesitant to speak up during your visit and discuss your expectations with your massage therapist.
- Dress comfortably and loosely for your massage.
Wear lightly undergarments that you don't mind getting filthy. When you get dressed after your session, they can still receive some massage oil on them even if you remove your underwear during your treatment.
Before your visit, put on a pair of sandals or shoes that you can quickly take off.
- Putting hair in a ponytail
Before your visit, fix your hair with a scrunchie or a clip. Additionally, doing so will prevent your hair from becoming greasy or oily while your massage therapist works on you. As a part of your appointment, some massage therapists will massage your scalp. Just let them know in advance if you don't want them to touch your hair or massage your scalp.
- Come just as you are
Some massage therapists may massage your face, but if you'd rather they don't, you can tell them that. Similar to this, avoid applying fake tanning lotion or oil before a massage appointment as your therapist will probably smear it.
- Dress casually as needed.b
You may relax knowing that your massage therapist will cover your body the entire time. An area will remain covered by a blanket or sheet if they are not working on it. Tell your massage therapist if you don't want to remove any clothing. If necessary, they can adjust the massage to your level of comfort.
- Take a shower first
Out of respect for your massage therapist, avoid using any strong aromas like perfume or cologne. During your appointment, strong smells can be too overbearing. If you don't want to shave any body hair, don't worry about it. The fact that massage therapists work with people of all body kinds means they won't pass judgment on how much or how little body hair you have.
- Drink plenty of water before your session
Drink water to maintain your fluid levels as massages can dehydrate you. However, refrain from downing an entire bottle of water prior to your session because you'll likely end up passing out during your massage.
- Eat a snack but avoid a filling mealn
At some point during your massage, you'll probably be lying on your stomach. You may eat as you normally would throughout the day, but refrain from stuffing yourself silly just before. If not, you might have some discomfort. Avoid consuming alcohol before your appointment as well. Being drunk may reduce the calming and serene atmosphere that massages are supposed to provide.
- If you have any questions, speak up and ask them
If it's your first massage, you'll probably talk with your therapist about your expectations for the session and any troublesome areas. Feel free to speak up during your massage and request that they change the location or the pressure.
- If you're sensitive, ask your therapist to avoid particular situations.
Speak up if you don't want to be touched on a certain body part. While some people are extremely ticklish in some regions, others dislike having their feet touched. Let them know in advance if there are any areas you don't want them to touch.
- Show your massage therapist respect
Don't discuss sex with them or in any other manner provoke their discomfort. You may have heard jokes before about "happy ending" sessions, but licensed massage therapists often don't enjoy them. You'll both have a good time if you show them respect and act responsibly. Some massage therapists may expel you just for making sexual jokes in their clinics.
